Frequently Asked Questions

No. The tool uses the browser’s built-in media APIs to read metadata directly from your local file. Your video is never sent anywhere.
Browsers expose resolution, duration, and file size through their media APIs, but deep codec information like H.264 vs H.265 requires native tools like FFprobe. For full codec details, use FFprobe or MediaInfo on your desktop.
Any format your browser can play — typically MP4 (H.264/H.265), WebM (VP8/VP9), and MOV. AVI and MKV files may not preview in all browsers but their file size and name will still be read.
YouTube recommends MP4 with H.264 codec, AAC audio, 1920×1080 resolution at minimum, 24–60fps frame rate, and file size under 256GB. For 4K content, use 3840×2160 with a higher bitrate of 35–68 Mbps.
